Tone Language Acquisition in Hindi/Urdu Speakers

Inviting Hong Kong-born Hindi/Urdu speakers to participate in hearing and speaking study

Eligibility Criteria:

– Hindi/Urdu as the first language;

– Born in Hong Kong;

– Age 18 – 35;

– No hearing, speech, or cognitive impairments;

– No professional musical training;

– Except Cantonese, no prior extensive learning experience with other tone languages such as Punjabi, Mandarin, Thai, etc.

Duration: Around 4 hours split over three days within one week.

Content: Participants will complete a series of hearing and speaking tasks on 7/F, Meng Wah Complex, The University of Hong Kong.

** Upon completion of all tasks involved, you will receive an honorarium of HKD $400.
